Kevin Hoffman of Vector Remote Care: How to Successfully Ride the Emotional Highs & Lows of Being an Entrepreneur
Authority Magazine asked Kevin Hoffman, Vector’s Founder and CEO, to share what inspired him to start Vector and what he’s learned as an entrepreneur. Hoffman’s personal experiences with malfunctioning implanted cardiac devices motivated him to play a role in improving cardiac device patient care.
While working as a cardiac technician, Hoffman met a patient who was repeatedly shocked by his implanted defibrillator due to a faulty device wire. The patient’s device had been recording abnormal readings for weeks before the traumatic event. If someone had been checking the device readings, the catastrophic event could have been prevented. Ten years earlier, Hoffman’s mother had also been repeatedly shocked by her defibrillator due to the same wire malfunction.
Hoffman founded Vector to improve the lives and safety of cardiac patients by connecting them to their doctors. Hoffman said, “Patients deserve better care and Vector is providing it. Our work at Vector improves outcomes for tens of thousands of patients. It starts with passion. Vector comes from a very real, personal experience and a goal to help patients with implanted cardiac devices. Everyone that works for Vector shares this same goal. A patient-first perspective is evident in all that we do, from sales to engineering.”
